Why Men and Boys?

img_1672I totally agree with this article that engaging men and boys is crucial to the prevention of sexual violence. Teaching women and girls how to avoid sexual violence is risk reduction. Looking at the roles of men and boys, challenging institutions that reinforce rape, battering and sexist attitudes are more geared toward prevention. In my mind, I would think that being able to focus on how to deepen a relationship rather than being on the lookout for signs of potential abuse is a far more worthwhile endeavor.
